Local Supporters: African Christians Organization Network and local community
They follow a Village Development Model and have been involved in
* Women’s Groups & Literacy
* Kitchen Gardening at Household level
* Safe Drinking Water
* Vocational Training (Tailoring, Barber, Blacksmith, Carpenter)
* the manufacture and implementation of over 2,900 Fuel-Efficient Stoves with improved Cooking Technology
The project is working in
* 20 villages within bicycle range of Western Kenya
* in 20 schools with 20 science teachers
* We plan on setting up 20 model farm plots in schoolyards to teach children about improved planting, soil importance and amendment, organic farming with no fertilizers, and the use of improved cooking stoves to reduce deforestation
* In each of 20 villages we will engage the local women’s groups
* and start 20 tree nurseries
* and 20 seed banks for the local farmers
As a result of this project it is our plan to influence over
* 12,000 families through their children and women
* install over 6,000 high efficiency cooking stoves that use 66% less wood and can also burn corn stover, bagasse and dung
* and plant over 200,000 new seedlings to replace deforested lands. This works out to 30 for every new stove installed
