A nationwide volunteer clean up activity held in support of Clean Up the World Weekend.
Filipinos join millions to help Clean Up the World
Thousands of volunteers from all over the Philippines will join an estimated 35 million volunteers from 120 countries to take community based action to help protect the environment for future generations as part of the Clean Up the World Campaign on September 19, 2009.
Clean Up the Philippines Movement, Inc. is a member of Clean Up the World, one of the largest community based environment campaigns in the world, and is organizing Clean Up the Philippines Day, a simultaneous nationwide volunteer clean up event held in support of the international Clean Up the World Weekend.
Ms. Jennifer Illustre, Director of Clean Up the Philippines’ Media and Public Relations Office, urged the community to get involved in the planned local activities by various organizations.
As part of the Clean Up the World campaign, our Members and volunteers from different parts of the country will be conducting various environmental activities such as clean up drives, tree planting activities, waste segregation and environmental education programs:
Advocates for Greener Earth (AGE) will be conducting a waste segregation program as part of their “Give Trash on Saturdays” Project in Cebu City;
Ang Nagkakaisang Mamamayang Kostal ng Balayan, Batangas (ANAKBALAYAN) will be conducting a coastal clean up in various coastal communities in the Municipality of Balayan in Batangas;
Asia Pacific College-Explorers' Club will be conducting a coastal clean up at Don Galo Extension, Coastal Road, Paranaque City;
The Biological Organization: Explore, Experience, Excel (BOX) of Ateneo de Manila University in Quezon City will conduct a clean up activity at Calatagan, Batangas;
Capitol University-Working Scholars Association from Cagayan de Oro City will be cleaning up Barangay Puntod Districts 1 and 2;
Clean Up the Philippines Movement, Inc. will be putting up an environmental photo exhibit dubbed as “The Green Exhibit” at SM Megamall together with the Australian Embassy and Digital Pinay Photographers as part of their environmental education program;
Clearspecs Production will be having its clean up and tree planting activity in General Trias in Cavite;
The Coastal Conservation and Education Foundation, Inc. in Cebu City will be holding its 1st Cebu Coastal Adventure Race. Simultaneous coastal clean up and mangrove planting activities will also be held in different coastal municipalities in the Province of Cebu together with the Rotary Club of Mactan, The Rotaract Club of Mactan-CITE, The International Yachting Fellowship Rotarian-Visayas Fleet Chapter and many more;
Conserve and Protect Ocean Foundation, Inc. will conduct a coastal clean up at Calatagan, Batangas;
De La Salle Lipa-Council of Student Organizations will be having its clean up activity at Malarayat, Lipa, Batangas;
The Friends of Laguna de Bay/Lake in San Pedro, Laguna will be cleaning up the shoreline and nearby areas of Laguna Lake;
Halcon Mountaineers, Inc. of Calapan City will conduct a clean up activity at the Four-Hectare site of the Oriental Mindoro Mangrove Rehabilitation Program along the coastal barangay of Mahal na Pangalan, Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro;
The International School Manila-Environment Council Members is planning to conduct a clean up activity at Hinulugang Taktak Falls in Antipolo City;
Kaya Football Club of Parañaque will also conduct a clean up activity at Hinulugang Taktak Falls in Antipolo City;
The City Government of Mandaluyong will be celebrating its Environment Week and will conduct a city-wide MandaLinis clean up activity;
Mary, Cause of our Joy Catholic School-CAT Unit Corps of Cadets will conduct a clean up activity at Soldier’s Hills Village in Muntinlupa City;
NYK-TDG Maritime Academy of Canlubang Laguna will conduct a coastal clean up at Calatagan, Batangas;
Paper Savers and Trading Corporation will be having its Tree Planting activity at the Family Park in Mandaue City;
The Philippine Australian Alumni Association, Inc.-Los Baños Chapter will conduct its annual Clean Up Los Baños Project together with the Local Government of Los Baños, Laguna;
The Rotary Club of West Bay will be participating in the Clean Up Los Baños Project;
Samahan ng mga Nagpapakadalubasa sa Filipino of Rizal Technological University in Mandaluyong City will be cleaning up Barangay Hagdan Bato Itaas, Mandaluyong City; and
Sociedad Verde of SGS Gulf Limited will join the Manila Bay coastal clean up of DENR tother with The University of the Philippines (UP)-One Earth.

“Taking action in our own community will not only benefit our local environment but we’ll also be helping the rest of the world address, and limit the impacts of climate change.
“We need the support of as many people as possible, it’s more important than ever that we take serious action to reduce the causes of climate change for the sake of our future generations.”
Clean Up the World founder and Chairman Ian Kiernan AO sent a message of support to the local volunteers participating in the Clean Up the World campaign.
“Volunteers from Clean Up the Philippines Campaign will be making a valuable contribution to not just their own communities but to rest of the world as well. At a time when global action on climate change is needed, every local action helps make a difference.
“Congratulations to the Members and volunteers of Clean Up the Philippines Campaign for being a leader in the local community and for being a part of the solution on climate change. Unity is important when it comes to addressing the causes of climate change. Each of us can make a difference. When we work together the benefits are even greater.”
Volunteers around the globe will take part in a range of activities as part of the Clean Up the World campaign, from tree plantings to nationwide clean ups.
Clean Up the Philippines Day has been supported locally by the Australian Embassy in the Philippines, SM Megamall/The Podium and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
